With the development and increasing use of information technology, the risk of cyber security is also increasing. Cyber security incidents are also increasing in Nepal recently. Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has given cyber security tips for users.
Tips from such Cyber Bureau
Use a secure password
Use a different password behind the account.
Changing passwords from time to time.
Keep a strong and unique password.
Use 2FA or MFA (OTP code with password) for added security along with password.
Two or multi-factor authentication (authentication) such as putting an OTP code or fingerprint into a password.
Got unexpected links or unfilled lots?
Do not click on any link on SMS/Messenger/WhatsApp without being sure.
If a parcel/gift has arrived from abroad, and they ask for money because they have to clear customs, don’t pay the money in a hurry. Don’t be tempted if you get a message saying that there is an unfilled lot while filling.
Do not share your password and OTP with anyone.
Let’s make it a habit to keep confidential information confidential
Do not view unnecessary personal details and objectionable pictures and videos on social networks.
Be aware of links, apps, websites, online forms etc. that come from different sources.
Be aware of financial transactions
Do not rely on attractive gifts or lottery that may come to your email or mobile phone.
If someone they know asks for money, they will make a phone call and make sure that there is an emergency.
Be aware of the use of technology
Use anti-virus software and adblocker on the computer as needed.
Using an absolute copy or version of any program/software.
Regular backup of important data on different media.
