In accordance with the aim of fulfilling the aspirations of ‘Digital Nepal Framework 2076’, the government has established the ‘National Cyber Security Centre’.
Rajkumar Maharjan, deputy secretary of the ministry and head of the cyber security branch, informed that the center, which has its office in the old Ministry of Home Affairs at Singha Durbar, has started its work.
He said that the center has been established under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to act as a contact body for research and development, cyber security promotion, public awareness, cyber security preparation, identification of challenges, prevention, response and recovery and digital forensic investigation.
The cabinet meeting on January 9 decided to establish a National Cyber Security Center. A structure of 12 employees has been formed to operate the center. Recently, the center has been established in view of the increasing cyber insecurity in various countries and even more insecurity in the case of Nepal.
Cyber security branch chief Maharjan said that the center was established in view of the increasing cyber insecurity in Nepal recently. According to him, the center has done round-the-clock monitoring of sensitive information infrastructure, cyber incidents and risk assessment, formation of emergency support groups with technical personnel to solve cyber risks that occur suddenly, and formation of emergency support groups at provincial and local levels to solve cyber risks that occur suddenly. is
A ‘Cyber Security Preparatory Exercise’ was also conducted for the representatives of the Information Technology Emergency Support Group formed in accordance with the provisions of the National Information Technology Emergency Support Group Operation and Management Guideline, 2075.
The budget statement for the current year 2080/81 also mentioned establishing a cyber security center. According to the regulations regarding the cyber security center, the person, company or organization that wants to provide cyber security services must obtain a permit. It is stated that the type of permit, the qualifications required to obtain each permit, the permit fee, the permit renewal fee, the conditions of the permit and other related provisions should be as prescribed.
